Deliveries, tours and deadlines, oh my!

The month of May gets hectic. It's the time of year when it's easy to forget small details between the planting, the summer preparations, the end of the school year activities, the picnics - all of the things that signal a reawakening to our region's warmer season.

Recognizing that we are in our prime season of needing reminders so that the important things don't slip through the cracks, we thought we would take a minute to send some quick reminders to our members:

  • Tomorrow is the last of the spring farm deliveries. Our truck will be at Sage's Apples from 9:30-11 a.m. and at Hill's Family Karate from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. with pre-ordered items, some spinach and baby bok choy, extra eggs, jam, etc. Sylvio Pellegrino will also be joining us with a full selection of farm-fresh organic chicken. No pre-order is necessary for the chicken, and Sylvio is able to take cash, checks and credit cards.
  • Tomorrow is the Geauga Tourism Spring Drive-it-Yourself Tour. Geauga Family Farms will have a stop on the tour at the farm of Noah and Kathy Yutzy. This is a fun event that is a great way to learn about the wonderful businesses of Geauga County. Check out tour details here.
  • There are five days remaining to sign up for the CSA season. If you know of friends, neighbors or family members who are planning to sign up, please pass on the word that time is running out to get in at the start of the season. Sign up here by May 15.
  • Mother's Day is Sunday. Why not treat your mom to a season of fresh, organic produce? CSA shares make a great gift. Order her a share here.
  • Finally, if you haven't had a chance to vote for the Food & Family = F2 project developed by students from the Peaceful Children Catholic Montessori School in Kirtland, please take a few minutes and help these local finalists as they compete nationally for project funding. You can vote here through May 13.

Thanks for all you do to support local farms! It means the world to us.

Warmly,

Michelle Bandy-Zalatoris, Laura Dobson and the Farmers of Geauga Family Farms
