Sweet

It is maple syrup season on the farms right now, with time spent gathering the sap and cooking it down to make that deliciously sweet treat. Did you know that it takes approximately 30-40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup? Ohio is fifth in the nation in terms of maple syrup production, with Geauga County the top producer in the state. We take tremendous pride in participating in the production of this great local product, and Geauga Family Farms will have fresh syrup available as soon as the season starts in quart, half-gallon and gallon sizes.

While our season gets its start in early June, there are great local farms with a range of fresh produce available now. Some outdoor farmers markets are getting their start this weekend, with items such as lettuce, spinach, potatoes, garlic and apples available. Hope you can check them out!

We are always looking for ways to help you enjoy the variety of great local products that are available throughout Northeast Ohio, and we are proud that our farms contribute to this wonderful local economy. Thanks for doing your part to make this all possible by being a local farm supporter.

Warmly,

Michelle Bandy-Zalatoris

Office equipment needed

The Geauga Family Farms warehouse is in need of a fax/printer/copier. We know that many businesses upgrade this type of equipment on a regular basis to stay current with technological advances, regardless of whether the item is still functioning well. If your business is upgrading equipment and has a working fax/printer/copier that you would be willing to donate, we would love to give it a second life. Please contact Michelle at to make arrangements.

Spread the word

Print one (or more) of our flyers and post in your office, a local store, library, etc. Take a picture where you've posted it, and send it to us at MichelleBZ@GeaugaFamilyFarms.org. For each flyer posted, we will enter your name into a drawing for a Farm Store voucher to use during the season. The more you post, the more chances you have to win. We will hold monthly drawings in March, April and May. You can find our flyer on our website, here.

Congratulations to our March winner, Donna Cowie! We have added a Farm Store voucher to her account which can be redeemed during the 2015 season. Thanks to all who participated in our March drawing.
