Spring Geauga County, Ohio April 1, 2017
"It is only the farmer
who faithfully plants seeds
in the Spring,
who reaps a harvest
in the Autumn."
~ B. C. Forbes
Spring is here!
It's not an April Fool's joke. Spring is finally arriving, after a false alarm a month or so ago, and we have so much to tell you! We've been busy all winter and the impending arrival of spring adds a sense of urgency to the buzz of activity going on in our hoop houses and all around our farms.
We are looking forward to a wonderful 2017 Summer season. We hope you can take a few minutes out of your busy day to catch up with all of us here at Geauga Family Farms.
We are excited to announce our tentative list of pick-up sites and a preliminary schedule for the summer. We have some new locations and new times and are excited to expand our offerings. We hope you will find a location that suits you. If not, we are always looking for additional pick-up sites so feel free to suggest new areas and locations to us.
The biggest news of all is our new customizable share. On the fence about kale? Already have more lettuce than you know what to do with? With this option, you can choose every item in each week's share, one by one, and customize your own box all season long.
As those of you who have already signed up for this season are aware, we have new CSA software this season. (A huge thanks goes out to those of you who did. Your support in the middle of the winter helps our farmers purchase seeds and other much-needed items during the leaner months.) We hope you will find this system easier to use and more adaptable to whatever method you use to connect with Geauga Family Farms.
As we did last year, we will be continuing to offer greater flexibility this season with vacation holds and anytime sign-ups. Going on a summer vacation? No problem! You can put your share on hold and have two boxes delivered on the delivery date of your choice. Not ready to sign up until July? No problem! Sign up anytime throughout the season.
Whew! Did we mention it has been a busy winter? We hope you join us this summer. We know you're looking forward to the fresh, local produce as much as we are!

It's time to sign up for your Summer 2017 CSA share
We have new CSA software this year, so even if you are a returning member, you will need to sign up as a new member. Returning members receive a special discount. To receive the discount, the discount code (below) must be entered when placing your order.
New this year is a customizable share. Many of you have been requesting this option for years! This share is equivalent to the medium share in volume. Members will select $23 worth of produce only from the farm store to fill each week's share. The total regular price of $700 includes a $12 fee each week to cover the cost of special packaging and the extra labor required to hand-select each item ordered by the member. Since this is a new option, we are only offering a limited number of customizable shares. This means quantities will be limited, so order early to get one of these customizable shares. We are not offering small shares this year.
An additional savings of $50 is applied to those picking up at our farm location. And, also new this year, we are offering a 5 percent discount to returning members.
You may pay for your share with a check by mail or online with a check or credit card. We offer a payment plan which breaks down the total cost into three equal payments. If you are paying by check, it requires mailing in all three checks at once. If you are paying online, three payments will be automatically deducted from your credit card, each one month apart. Please be sure to use a credit card that does not expire before the final payment is due, or make a note to update it when your new card arrives.
We introduced this last year, but remember, you can sign up anytime during the season. Taking a summer vacation in early June and want to wait until mid-June to sign up? No problem!
Another new feature we introduced last year, and one of our most popular, is the vacation hold option. Put your share on hold while you're on vacation and then let us know when you'd like to receive your make-up share.
Returning member discount pricing:
Medium share - $441.75*
Large share (returning members) - $736.25*
NEW! Customizable share - $665*
Regular pricing (remains the same as last year)

Never let your share go to waste again with CSA Helper
Julianne DiLorenzo, one of our longtime members, is working on an online service
that provides recipes designed to use up exactly what came in your share each week, putting an end to the question, "What am I going to do with all this stuff?"
After her own experiences as a CSA member, Julianne, a web designer,
came up with the idea for the meal-planning service called CSA Helper. You can try out the prototype here and sign up to be notified when it launches.
After you give the prototype a try, Julianne, who is the CEO and co-founder of CSA Helper, would appreciate your feedback at
We would love to bring the farm to your employees. Our farm representative Rachel Machesky will be making
visits to local businesses to talk about the opportunity to bring farm-fresh goodness to your employees, right where they work. She will share information on our programs and accept sign-ups.
Rachel will be accompanied by one of our farmers, who will bring along over-wintering vegetables including potatoes and onions, as well as farm-produced items such as maple syrup, honey and jams.
Schedule a pop-in visit now. To set up a convenient time for Rachel and the farmers to come out to your company, please contact Rachel at 216-246-8254 or email her at
