Signs of spring

The air around the farms is starting to smell like freshly-plowed soil, our sign-up deadline is drawing near, and we have new pick-up locations to announce. It finally feels like spring at Geauga Family Farms!

Now is a great time to make sure you don't miss your summer of freshly picked, organic goodness from the Geauga Family Farms CSA program. Help spread the word.

We have new pick-up locations that will bring the CSA to more locations this season:

Hudson: The Hudson Square Building on North Main Street will serve as a convenient pick-up spot on Saturday mornings. Grab your share and then hit the market for more local goodies.

Beachwood: We are delighted to partner with the Mandel JCC for a great Thursday location. Check out all that this wonderful community facility has to offer while you pick up your share.

Painesville: Brush up on your Lake County history when you pick up your share in Painesville this season. The Lake County History Center will provide a new pick-up location on Tuesday afternoons/evenings.

Munson Township: Many thanks to longtime members Les and Carol Vought for offering a great new Saturday location in the Chardon area at Peace Lutheran Church.

If you would like to switch sites, this can be done until May 15. Login to your Farmigo account, and select a new site here

New friends, new locations and new offerings, as well as the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and partners - the start of the season can't come soon enough!

Heartfelt thanks

A sincere thanks to longtime members Joe and Dorrie Keough who generously donated a gently used fax/printer/copier to our organization after we placed a request in the last newsletter. This will be incredibly helpful in improving efficiency at our warehouse this season, and we are very appreciative!

You asked for it...

One of our longtime members asked about the possibility of offering a cheese share for weekly deliveries of Middlefield Original Cheese. We thought it was a great idea, and worked out the details to make it a reality. These are now available to add to your weekly produce share. Thank you for the suggestion, Leah!

Cheesemaker's Choice half share - ½ pound per week  $70/20 weeks

Each week, members will receive a half-pound package of cheese from Middlefield Original Cheese Co-op. We will select a different flavor each week, including standard, organic and grass-fed options.

Cheesemaker's Choice full share - 1 pound per week  $140/20 weeks

Each week, members will receive two half-pound packages of cheese from Middlefield Original Cheese Co-op. We will select two different flavors each week, including standard, organic and grass-fed options.

Help spread the word

There is still time to get in on our April drawing! Print one (or more) of our flyers and post it in your office, a local store, coffee shop, library, etc. Take a picture where you've posted it, and send it to us at . For each flyer posted, we will enter your name into a drawing for a Farm Store Voucher to use during the season. The more you post, the more chances you have to win. We will hold monthly drawings in March, April and May. Click here to print out the flyer.

Local food, farming, environment in the news

We have so many things we'd like to share with you regarding the local food movement and things like the farm bill, the latest news on GMO foods, and much, much more, but we don't want to make our newsletter any longer. Until we get our blog up and running on our website, we are going to include links to articles that you may find interesting. Here are a couple. If you run across any articles you think would be of interest to our members, feel free to send us the link for inclusion here.
